Bushings - the lowly bushing - some comments and maybe a bit of editorial.

First - the editorial: On virtually every shock you need a bushing - simply to mount the shock and to allow it to pivot through its stroke. So the function is the same on every shock. Now, EVERY Fox and ACT (of the era we deal with - 20+ yrs worth) have eyelets that are 1.0" inside diameter and 0.700" wide flange (the steel or AL eyelets) with a 3/8" bolt.

So then why are there so many sizes? Sizes means length of the sleeve. Here is a perfect example of engineering nonsense. As the engineer's come and go they all have to make their mark and design it their way. There should be procedures in place so this doesn't happen. In some instances we are talking a 0.020" difference in length (for comparison a human hair is 0.003" - 0.004") - so yet 2 more part numbers.

OK - we're stuck with it.

Some popular Arctic Cat sizes:
0.820"
0.930"
0.950"
1.000"
2.070"

Some popular Polaris sizes:
1.170"
1.190"
1.240"
1.340"
1.400"
1.465"
1.720"
0.910" - rear track shock top
1.040" - rear track shock top

And they all do the same thing.

The problem - the bushings might not be the same top & bottom. We get shocks with no bushing, we get shocks where the bushing and sleeve are cut off, however, since "they" didn't standardize diddly, and the same shock over different models will have different bushings - well...

It might come down to measuring the actual sled metal mounting tabs with your dial caliper to figure out the correct bushings - if you don't have one head on over to Harbor Freight and plop your $20 down - you need one anyway.

We do not sell bushings - we simply don't have the capacity - we only sell bushings where required (and required means most) when we do a shock service or restoration.

- end -
